Today he and his crew of master craftsmen take enormous pride in every custom
home they build. They don’t believe in cutting corners or the phrase “good
enough”. They know that at the core of every project is a dream home for a
family that expects the best. This is why we believe that it is critical to
build it right the first time, on schedule, and within budget. We also know how
overwhelming the concept of building a custom home can be to our customers. This
is why Todd personally works with all of his customers from the beginning of the
complicated process to the exciting end results. We expect our customers to feel

Todd
R. Petersen first found his niche in the custom building industry as a
freshman in high school when he elected to take wood-shop instead of band. His
love for creating beautiful things out of word wood grew exponentially into what
it is today. Prior to becoming President and owner of Woods and Water
Construction he learned from master craftsmen building ocean front homes in
Nantucket, Ma. Because of his overwhelming desire to learn, his excellent
communication skills, and his dedication to work hard, he quickly rose from
apprentice to project manager. This success inspired him to further himself with
a B.S. in Construction Management and a degree in Architecture from Ferris State
University. After graduating from Ferris he worked in the commercial industry
several years. During this time his talents were recognized by Gordon Food
Service who hired him to oversee a massive expansion of their retail division.
Over the next five years as their Site Development Manager, he was responsible
for planning and overseeing the design and construction of sixty new stores and
many remodels of existing stores throughout the Midwest. It was an opportunity
to see the construction industry through an owner’s eyes. That experience has
helped him to better understand the needs his customers. In 1999 Todd and his
wife began their family and felt the need to get back to Northern Michigan where
Todd followed his dream again of building custom homes.
